Photographic Work
I received my BFA in Visual Arts with a major concentration in photography and a minor concentration in cyber arts from the University of Toledo in 1998. My adviser and mentor while at UT was Deborah Orloff, MFA. An exploration of my relationship with my Roman Catholic religion formed the basis of my work's content during my undergraduate studies. After completing my degree at UT, I spent a year studying and teaching photography at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana before deciding to pursue other career interests. My more recent work deals more with my interest in a sense of place and space which have some relationship to my study of geography and environmental planning. In this photographic section of my website, you will find links to different bodies of my photographic work from the time of my undergraduate studies and beyond.

Geographic Work
My fascination with space and my desire to work in an environmentally beneficial capacity led me into graduate studies in geography and planning at the University of Toledo beginning in the fall of 2000. The research area I was most interested in was the Oak Openings Region of NW Ohio & SE Michigan and how conservation and restoration planning could benefit from the utilization of GIS and remote sensing technologies. During my studies, much of my class research, as well as my thesis, centered on this topic. After completing my course work in the fall of 2002, I took a job as the GIS Technician at the Delaware Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) in Delaware, Ohio. I completed my thesis and graduated in the summer of 2006. At that time I also received a promotion to GIS/IT Program Coordinator at the District. After seven years with the District, I took the position of GIS and Conservation Planning Manager at the Western Reserve Land Conservancy (Chesterland/Moreland Hills, OH) in 2009. In 2012, I received a promotion to Director of GIS and Conservation Planning at the Land Conservancy.

Fiber Arts
I began weaving in 2007, taking classes with Pat Bullen at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center, and I really fell in love with the craft. I took several session of classes at the Center allowing me to get experience working on 3 different floor looms, different fiber types, and different weaves completing the whole process from choosing the yarn, to measuring the warp, warping the loom, weaving the projects and then finishing the projects off the loom. I was also able to display a couple of my projects at the Student Exhibit at the Center in May 2008.
I now own a Harrisville 8-shaft 36" floor loom, an 8-shaft Macomber BabyMac loom (portable), and a 24-shaft ARM Patronic loom.
In recent years I have had the opportunity to study with nationally-known teachers both through local guild-offered workshops and through classes at Penland School of Crafts. I have also started to exhibit work in local and national/international shows.
Please see fiber arts section, my project journal, and my gallery for additional information and photos.
